Awakening our innate wisdom
Throughout history, women have consciously or unconsciously gathered in sacred circles to share stories, laugh, grieve, heal, care for children, and spiritually connect in community. My circles create a space that supports women to access and trust in our inner guidance, and to experience a deeper connection to ourselves, to other women and to nature that our day-to-day lives often leave little room for. Community is formed as we support one another in this self-reflection, self-discovery and soulfulness. Women of all walks of life, faiths, beliefs, backgrounds and ages are welcome - indeed the more diverse the circle, the richer the wisdom.
Some of the elements I weave in include...
Meditation & visualisation
Sharing & witnessing
Rituals & intention setting
Connection with nature
Touch & holding
What do I need to wear/bring?
Wear whatever you feel comfortable in and that doesn't restrict you. Bring a journal and something to write/draw with. Depending on the circle location you may need to bring a cushion to sit comfortably on the floor or to wrap up warm. There will be specific information in each circle description, along with a suggestion for an item to bring for our altar.
What are the rules?
In order to create a safe space for sharing our truths, we make certain agreements at the beginning of each circle. These include: 1. confidentiality and not sharing the words or experience of another woman. 2. only one woman speaks at a time and is not offered advice, fixing or rescuing so that she is not distracted from the fullness of her experience and is allowed to flow with any emotion that arises. 3. deep listening without judgement where we are fully present with the speaker's reality instead of our interpretation of it or our personal feelings about it.
Do I have to share if I don't feel like it?
Absolutely not. Everything I offer is an invitation only. This is a safe space in which to practice saying no to anything that doesn't feel right for you in the moment. Witnessing is just as powerful as sharing.
Why are women's circles so healing?
The Wild Feminine by Tami Lynn Kent and Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes address patterns of wounding to the feminine and reflect on how speaking our stories can be healing for the individual, her community, and even future generations. When giving voice to a concern or issue that arises during self-inquiry, there is a healing – a dissolution, dissipation, and rounding of the edges of what might have been a challenging issue. There can also be new discoveries, considerations or revelations that were previously unknown to a woman until she was given the opportunity to reflect and speak her truth and authenticity in a supportive environment, free from judgement.
Experiences of Being in Circle
"I came to this circle with an open mind, knowing that with the click of a button I could leave if it was not for me. However, from the start Gem held the space with such tenderness and her lovely voice lured me in. The visualisations were uplifting and left me with a feeling of being refreshed and cleansed at the end. The structure and format was reassuring too throughout. Being amongst a group of women talking honestly and being witnessed and heard without judgement or any attempt by them to offer advice felt liberating and supportive at a time when we all need it."
"WOW! Thank you so much for the incredible circle you created yesterday. The magic that dances within that circle still blows my mind every time! It is what my soul has been longing for. I cried, felt energy move through me that had been stuck for years, had breakthroughs in my thinking and felt connected to the wild woman that I had forgotten existed in me. I feel SO excited to be part of this magic."
There is a booking fee of £5 to secure your place in the circle. At the end of the circle, there will be an envelope for you to offer a donation as an exchange of energy for the Sacred Space you have received. A donation web link will be sent after an online circle. This enables you to make an offering that reflects the circle's value to you and your financial situation. The suggested donation is £10-20, however if this feels too much of a stretch for you, please email me at email@example.com.
